New Database Trial - The American Civil War Research Database

The library has a new database trial, The American Civil War Research Database: The American Civil War Research Database™ is the definitive online resource for researching the individuals, regiments, and battles of the American Civil War. Originally created by Historical Data Systems, Inc., the database contains indexed, searchable information on over 4 million soldiers and thousands of battles, together with 15,000 photographs. With thousands of regimental rosters and officer profiles, the database will continue to grow as new information is loaded semiannually. Give it a look and let us know what you think; add a comment here or drop us an email.  The trial expires March 14, 2008. Unfortunately, this database is only available on-campus. To find out what trials we have access to at any given time, click on the "Databases by Subject" link on the Library's Homepage and then click on the "Database Trials" link.

We have it online now with the trial. Feel free to give it a spin. If the library decides to acquire it after the trial, it would be accessible online through the library's website.

I would love to have this database ONLINE!! If you get the database will it be online then??

It is interesting to know how events in the distant past have parallels to what we have going on. For example, did you know of the link between the American Civil War and Mumbai's rise to industrial age. There was a cotton bubble going on at that time in Mumbai. Right now it is real estate and credit bubble.
