Overview of the Robert R. Muntz Library Collections
The library continues to provide and maintain materials in the traditional physical formats of bound volumes, microforms, and audiovisual media. Increasingly, however, we are selecting digital resources, especially subscriptions to electronic databases and services that can provide a broad range of information for students both on and off campus.
Library users can find holdings and location information for nearly all of our paper, microform, and audiovisual items via the online catalog. Digital resources are accessible via the Library’s web page, listed alphabetically and by subject.
The Muntz Library’s collections are divided into several location groups based on type of publication, condition of material, or special usage restrictions.
- Stacks/Oversize (3rd Floor)—books and documents that can be checked out . Oversize follows the Stacks Z call numbers.
- Government Documents (3rd Floor)-the Library is a Depository for Texas State Publications.
- Periodicals (4th Floor)--current, bound, and microform holdings-in library use only.
- Media--audiotapes, videotapes, films, compact discs, etc. (Ask at Circulation.)
- Reference and Reserve (2nd Floor)—high-use materials for short loans or in library use only .
- Curriculum Materials Laboratory (CML) (2nd Floor)—children’s books and state-adopted textbooks .
- Special Collections and Limited Access (Ask at Reference or Circulation.)
In addition to these holdings on the UT Tyler campus, the library supports collections of books, audiovisuals, and journals for the Palestine and Longview sites.
